Dear Parents,
Hello! My name is Debbie Tisdale and I have had the good fortune to be associated with Julie Rohr Academy since 1986 when my family moved to Florida from Maine.
At that time, my husband and I only had four children but we managed to increase that number to seven! All of those seven have graduated from Julie Rohr Academy.
Our oldest, Maureen, lives near Detroit, Michigan and was married at the beginning of this year. She got her degree in journalism from the University of Central Florida and is now an editor with the Detroit News.
Our next oldest, Billy (now Bill to everyone but Mom), lived in Chicago until recently. After graduating with his MBA from Kellogg Graduate School, he transferred to the J. P. Morgan office in Boston. He now lives there with his wife, Shelly.
Next is Bobby (now Rob) who lives in Maine and has his own real estate management company. He is married to a wonderful young lady, Bethany, and together they have given me my first grandchild. Chloe turns three years old this month!
Tiffany lives in Orlando and graduates from the University of Central Florida this month. She has a degree in Public Administration and currently works for the American Lung Association where she did her internship.
Moving down the list, our next is Brice who is 22 and will graduate from the University of South Florida in December with two degrees; one in Economics and one in Finance. He currently has a part-time internship at GE Security in Bradenton.
Baron is our 20 year old. He lives close to Tiffany in Orlando, and attends Valencia Community College with the goal of completing the Culinary Arts Program.
Our youngest, Mavi, is a sophomore at Sarasota Military Academy this year. She is the "baby" of the family but is growing up very fast. Her "forte" is writing and she has strong communication skills. She enjoyed her creative writing class at SMA, as well as Driver's Ed, and is looking forward to driving in November (yikes!)
Sadly, we lost our husband and father four summers ago. We were visiting in Maine when he passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. We had to stay in Maine for a while to resolve some personal issues but were fortunate to be able to return to the "home" we had known for so long.
I have certification from the state of Florida equivalent to a CDA in Early Childhood Education, an AA from the University of Maine in Liberal Studies and am currently attending the University of South Florida in Sarasota.
I consider myself very lucky to be back at Julie Rohr Academy and look forward to meeting all the parents. Thank you for sharing your children with me!
Sincerely,
Ms. Debbie
