Why JRA?
Questions Most Commonly Asked by Prospective JRA Parents
1. What makes JRA different than other schools?
We offer an outstanding performing arts program far beyond what is typically expected of schools within our age range. We believe that what students gain from on stage performing experiences is unique and makes memories that last a lifetime. They learn responsibilty, self-confidence and a feeling of being successful.
We offer a "family atmosphere" where teachers and students have a mutual respect for each other and where students may live and grow emotionally as well as socially and academically surrounded by a warm, loving and caring staff. Our teachers have been a JRA at least ten years and most over twenty years.
We offer a Transitional Kindergarten program (TK) that provides children who have missed the required deadline to begin kindergarten an exciting class that teaches and challenges to let them excel in kindergarten.
2. What are the teachers'qualifications?
Pre-school through TK lead teachers are degreed in Early Childhood and/or Primary Education.
3. Do you keep track of students once they leave JRA?
Yes. Because of our "family atmosphere" many of our students come back to visit. They reminisce with teachers and staff about their wonderful days at JRA. We also have several students who now have their children at JRA.
4. What is the curriculum at JRA?
We use the Creative Curriculum for Preschool and the Kindness Curriculum (by Judith Anne Rice). TK and Pre-Kindergarten use the "Handwriting without Tears" and TK also uses the Letter People Program. JRA believes that children learn in a myriad of ways and offer many opportunities for "hands-on" learning and experimenting. It is always important for each child to have time for creative expression and develop critical thinking skills.
